Giovanni Martusciello will perform the duties of head coach of the Rome club.
Italian football clubLazioannounced the resignation of Maurizio Sarri from the post of head coach.
The Romans announced this on their official website.
It is noted that that the 65-year-old Italian specialist himself resigned, despite the fact that his contract was valid until the summer of 2025.
Giovanni Martusciello was appointed acting head coach of the Eagles, who previously worked as Sarri's assistant at the Roman club.
Sarri has been in charge of Lazio since the summer of 2021. Last season, the Eagles finished second in Serie A, which qualified them for the Champions League.
Things are not going so well for the Romans this season. They are only in ninth place in the Italian Championship. Lazio was eliminated from the Champions League in the 1/8 finals, losing on aggregate to Bayern Munich (1:0 at home and 0:3 away).
The Eagles will play their next match on March 16 away against Frosinone in Serie A.
