Ukrainian boxer Alexander strong> Gvozdik will fight for the interim WBC light heavyweight belt against the American David Benavidez.
The 36-year-old native of Kharkov announced this on his page on Instagram.
The fight with the participation of the Ukrainian will take place on June 22 in Houston, Texas.
Gvozdyk and Benavidez will fight on the undercard of the fight between WBA lightweight champion American Gervonta Davis and his compatriot Frank Martin.
Gvozdyk in his last fight on the night of October 1 last year knocked out Brazilian Isaac Rodriguez. For the Ukrainian, this was the third fight after returning to boxing.
In June 2020, Alexander announced his retirement, but after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he decided to return to the ring.
In the first fight after resuming his boxing career, Gvozdyk in February 2023 won a unanimous decision over the Mexican Josue Obando, and in May he knocked out the Latvian Richards Bolotnix .
