Ukrainian Olympic football team (U-23) tied with Paraguay U-23 in the last control match before the start of the Olympic Games 2024. The match ended with the score 2:2.
Ruslan Rotan's team took the lead in the 35th minute of the match – Maxim Khlan scored.
At the end of the match Oleg Fedor doubled the advantage of the “blue-yellows”. However, our team failed to retain the victory. In the last minutes of the game, Paraguay scored twice and snatched a draw.
Note that the goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team Kirill Fesyun saved two penalties – in the first and second halves.
According to the agreements between the teams, the broadcast of this match was not provided.
Let us add that in the previous friendly, the Ukrainian Olympic team ended in a draw with Egypt (1:1).
The men's football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games will be held from July 24 to August 9 in seven cities of France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Nice and Nantes.
The Ukrainian national football team will take part in the Olympics for the first time in history. Rotan's team will play in Group B against Iraq (July 24), Morocco (July 27) and Argentina (July 30).
The two best teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. If Rotan's team manages to get to the quarterfinals, they will play there against a representative of Group A (France, USA, Guinea, New Zealand).
According to the regulations, players born after January 1, 2001 can take part in the Olympic football tournament. Each team can only include three players older than this age in the application.
