In this discipline, Mikhail won the "bronze" at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Ukrainian swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk failed to reach the final of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in the 800-meter freestyle.
In the qualification, he showed a result of 7:49.75, finishing last in his swim.
It should be noted that Romanchuk is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo in this distance.
Mykhailo is also an Olympic record holder in this distance (7:41:28). He showed this result in the qualification for the Tokyo Games.
Romanchuk has already commented on his unsuccessful performance in the qualification in the 800m freestyle swimming.
“I don't know what to say. I'm in complete despair. This is not what I was preparing for, what I worked for all year. I can't say anything else. There are simply no words.
There were two distances, and now there's one left. We need to draw conclusions about why this is happening and approach the 1500m with a “cool” head,” Romanchuk said in a commentary to Suspilna Sport.
At the 2024 Olympics, the Ukrainian will also compete in the 1500m freestyle, where he won silver at the Tokyo Games.
The qualifying swims in the 1500m freestyle will be held on Saturday, August 3.
