Marta continues to fight for medals at the 2024 Olympics in singles and doubles.
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reached the quarterfinals of the singles at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In In the third round match, the 22-year-old Ukrainian defeated the world's eighth-ranked Maria Sakkari from Greece. The match lasted 2 hours and 49 minutes and ended with a strong-willed victory for the Ukrainian with a score of 4:6, 7:6, 6:4.
This is Marta's debut Olympics in her career. At the start of the competition, she defeated New Zealander Lulu Sun, and then in the second round defeated Frenchwoman Clara Burel.
Kostyuk is the only Ukrainian tennis player who made it to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Olympics singles. Earlier, Elina Svitolina left the competition, having lost to the current Wimbledon champion, Czech Barbora Krejcikova, in the 1/8 finals.
In the quarterfinals, Kostyuk will face the thirteenth seeded Croatian Donna Vekic, who knocked out the second racket of the world, American Cori Gauff, in the 1/8 finals.
