Lions for the first time since the 2019/20 season, they played a match in the elite of Ukrainian football.
“Veres” and “Karpaty” played a draw in the opening match of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2024/25 season.
The match of the 1st round of the Ukrainian Football Championship took place at the “Avanhard” stadium in Rivne and ended without goals scored – 0:0.
The teams did not create a large number of scoring chances. Over the entire match, the Rivne club made more shots – 11 against 5 (on target – 3:2).
It should be noted that the “lions” finished the match short-handed – in the 89th minute, Yan Kostenko earned a second yellow card and a sending-off. However, the hosts did not have time to take advantage of the numerical advantage.
Review of the match “Veres” – “Karpaty”
For “Karpaty”, this was the first match in the elite division since the 2019/20 season. Last campaign, the “lions” took second place in the First League and qualified for the UPL.
In the second round of the national championship, “Veres” will host “Dynamo” on August 9, and “Karpaty” will meet “Kryvbas” on its home field on August 11.
