Parviz Nasibov finished the Olympic Games with a silver medal for the second time in a row.
Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Parviz Nasibov won a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In the final, the 25-year-old The Ukrainian (weight category: 67 kg) lost to Iranian Said Esmaili Leivesi with a score of 5:6.
It should be noted that in the 1/8 finals, Nasibov snatched a victory against the fourth-seeded Serbian Mate Nemes (3:2) in the last seconds. In the 1/4 finals, Parviz defeated the fifth-seeded Amantur Ismailov from Kyrgyzstan (7:6) in a tense fight. In the semi-finals, thanks to his last active action (3:3), the Ukrainian scratched a ticket to the final from the leader of the world ranking, Azerbaijani Hasrat Jafarov.
Nasibov is a silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Championships (2023, 2024).
Nasibov's medal was the ninth for Ukraine at the Olympics. Now the “blue-yellows” have three gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
Another Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler, Zhan Beleniuk, will fight for the “bronze” on August 8, where his opponent will be the Pole Arkadiusz Kulinicz.
Ukraine is represented at the XXXIII Summer Olympics by 140 athletes who compete in 23 sports. The Games in Paris will last until August 11.
