The match between the Ukrainians ended with Marta's victory.
In the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto (Canada), a match took place between the Ukrainian tennis players, in which Marta Kostyuk beat Elina Svitolina.
The match lasted 1 hour and 43 minutes and ended with a victory Kostyuk with a score of 6:2, 2:6, 6:2.

This was only the second face-to-face match between Elina and Marta. The first time they met was in the 1/16 finals of the 2018 Australian Open. Then Svitolina defeated Kostyuk with a score of 6:2, 6:2.
Now it is the 22-year-old Kostyuk who is the first racket of Ukraine and ranks 20th in the world rankings. 29-year-old Svitolina is in 34th position in the WTA rankings.
In the 1/8 finals, Kostyuk will play against American Emma Navarro, who defeated Polish Magda Linett with a score of 6:2 in the second round of the tournament in Toronto. 6:4. The match between Kostyuk and Navarro will take place on Friday, August 9.
Note that most recently Svitolina and Kostyuk represented Ukraine at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. In the singles tournament, Elina was eliminated in the 1/8 finals by Czech Barbora Krejcikova, and Marta stopped in the quarterfinals, dramatically losing to future finalist, Croatian Donna Vekic.
Kostyuk is also at the 2024 Olympics competed in doubles with Dayana Yastremska, but after Marta’s extremely tiring victory in the 1/8 finals of the singles tournament over the eighth racket of the world Maria Sakkari from Greece, the Ukrainians withdrew from the competition and did not enter the 1/8 match finals.
