Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina failed to reach the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Monterrey, Mexico.
In the quarterfinals, the 29-year-old native of Odessa lost to the sixth seed, 19-year-old Linda Noskova from the Czech Republic. The match lasted 1 hour 22 minutes and ended with the Ukrainian losing with a score of 4:6, 4:6.
Noskova vs. Svitolina match review
It should be noted that in the 1/8 finals, Svitolina defeated former Russian Elina Avanesyan, who has been playing under the Armenian flag since August 2024. After her triumph, the Ukrainian did not shake her opponent's hand.
Svitolina was the last Ukrainian in the singles tournament in Monterrey. Earlier, Angelina Kalinina and Ekaterina Volodko were eliminated in the first round.
Svitolina's next tournament will be the US Open 2024, the main draw of which starts on Monday, August 26.
