The matches of the first round of the updated most prestigious European Cup will be held from September 17 to 19.
The matches of the first round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season will be played on September 17-19.
This season, the most prestigious European tournament is being held in an updated format. Initially, 36 clubs will compete in a single league, where they will play against eight different teams (four matches at home and four away).
Following the league stage, the eight teams with the most points will advance to the 1/8 finals. The clubs that finish 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for a spot in the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
Starting from the 1/8 finals, the Champions League playoffs will be held according to the same scheme as before – in the format of two-match confrontations (home and away). The tournament final will consist of one match.
The only representative of Ukraine in the current Champions League is Shakhtar Donetsk. On September 18, the Miners startin the European Cup with an away match against Italian “Bologna”.
