Unaj Melgosa's team lost points for the first time in European Championship qualifiers.
Ukraine U21 team suffered an away loss to Englandin the match of the 9th round of the group stage of the Euro 2025 qualification. The match in Bournemouth ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the hosts.
The first half passed without goals. In the second half of the meeting, the “blue-yellows” opened the scoring – in the 71st minute, Taras Mikhako headed in Oleg Ocheretko's pass from the corner.
However, Unai Melgosa's charges were unable to maintain the winning result. The savior of the English team was James Mackety, who scored a double, scoring goals in the 88th and 90+2nd minutes.

The Ukrainian youth team lost points in the 2025 European Championship qualification for the first time. Before that, Melgosa’s team won all eight matches in a row, guaranteeing their place in the continental championship.
Before the final round of the Euro 2025 qualification, the Ukrainian youth team leads Group F with 24 points, two points ahead of England. The Blue-Yellows will play their last match on October 15 away to Serbia.
Recall that 16 teams will compete in the final part of Euro 2025 (U-21): Slovakia (the host of the final tournament) and another 15 teams that will join it based on the results of the selection (nine group winners, three best teams among the runners-up and three winners of the playoff, in which the six runners-up will play).
