Thomas Tuchel has officially taken charge of the Three Lions.
German specialist Thomas Tuchel will become the new head coach of the England national football team.
His appointment was announced by the Football Association of England.
The 51-year-old German will start working with the Three Lions in 2025. Until then, the English national team will be managed by current interim head coach Lee Carsley.
Tuchel's last job was at Bayern Munich, which he left in the summer of 2024. Before that, Thomas headed Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Chelsea.
Tuchel led Borussia Dortmund to victory in the German Cup, won the national championship and the Cup with PSG, and reached the Champions League final. As head of Chelsea, he won the Champions League, became the owner of the UEFA Super Cup, and triumphed at the Club World Cup. With Bayern, he won the German championship.
Recall that after the defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, Gareth Southgate, who had led the team since 2016, left the post of head coach of the England national team. During this time, the team reached the finals of Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, but the Three Lions suffered defeats both times.
In the 2024/25 Nations League, the England national team is in second place in Group 2 of Division B after four rounds. Carsley's charges have scored 9 points and are behind Greece (12), but ahead of Ireland (3) and Finland (0).
In the next fifth round of the Nations League, the England national team will play the Greeks away on November 14.
