Oleksandr Shovkovskiy's team suffered their third defeat in a row in the Europa League.
Dynamo Kyiv lost to Roma in the third round of the main stage of the Europa League season 2024/25. The match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome ended with a score of 1:0.
The head coach of the “white-blues” Oleksandr Shovkovskiy released an experimental lineup from the first minutes in order to save key players before the UPL match with Shakhtar, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 27.
The Italian club expectedly had more possession and opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Taras Mihavko fouled Tommaso Baldanzi in his own penalty area, for which the referee awarded a penalty. The penalty was confidently converted by Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk, who came out in the starting lineup of the “wolves”.
At the end of the first half, the Kievans managed to create several dangerous moments. First, Oleksandr Tymchyk shot past the far post, and then the Roman goalkeeper Mile Svilar parried Eduardo Guerrero's shot.
Before the break, the Dynamo players even managed to score, but Nazar Voloshin's goal was rightly disallowed due to offside.
At the start of the second half, Dovbyk was replaced on the field by Eldor Shomurodov. The hosts continued to attack – they were unable to score more, but they did not miss out on a winning result.

We remind you that in the updated format of the Europa League, 36 clubs play in a single league, where they will play against eight different opponents (four matches at home and four away). All tournament participants received 2 opponents from 4 different baskets.
The eight best teams of the main stage of the Europa League will get into the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for reaching the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
