Willy Sagnol was disappointed with the result of the match against the Ukrainians.
Head coach of the Georgian national team Willy Sagnol commented on the draw with Ukraine in the match of the 5th round of the group stage of the League of Nationsseason 2024/25.
The match at the Batumi Arena stadium in the Georgian city of Batumi ended with a score of 1:1.
After the game, the coach of the Georgian national team said that he was a little upset with the result, since he believes that his team deserved to win.
“I think we started the game very well, but the mistake we made in the episode with Ukraine's goal forced us not to play so well in the last 20 minutes of the first half.
I think my players played at a very high level. It is difficult to analyze the entire match at once, but I think the second half was one of the best for us during my time as head coach of the Georgian national team.
I am a little disappointed, because I think that we deserved more thanks to our performance after the break. However, we made a few mistakes, which at this level can cause us a lot of harm,” the official UAF website quotes Sagnol as saying.

In the final round, the Ukrainian national team will play against Albania in Tirana, and Georgia will meet the Czech Republic away. Both matches will take place on Tuesday, November 19, and will kick off at 21:45 Kyiv time.
According to the new format of the Nations League, a participant in the group tournament in Division B, where the Ukrainian national team competes, if it takes:
- first place – will rise to Division A;
- second place – will play playoffs for promotion to Division A with the team that finishes third in the Division A group;
- third place – will play playoffs for retention in Division B with the team that finishes second in the Division C group;
- fourth place – will be relegated to Division C.
