"Chelsea" thrashed "Southampton" away in the match of the 14th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton ended with a score of 1:5.
Already in the 7th minute of the match, Axel Disasi put the Londoners ahead. The “Saints” responded four minutes later with a goal from Joe Aribo. However, Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke then scored for the “Blues” in the 17th and 34th minutes respectively.
Before the break, the hosts were also left with one man down – Jack Stevens received a direct red card in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Enzo Maresca's charges took advantage of their numerical advantage and brought the matter to a rout. Cole Palmer scored in the 77th minute, and Jadon Sancho sealed the match with a precise strike in the 87th minute.
It should be noted that Chelsea's Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk was left out of the squad for this match due to illness.
Thanks to this victory, Chelsea (28 points) moved up to second place in the English Championship. Southampton (5 points) are in last, 20th place.
