Oleksandr Shovkovskiy's team took sole charge of the Ukrainian championship standings.
“Dynamo" thrashed “Oleksandria" in the central match of the 16th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium in Kyiv ended with a score of 3:0.
In the first half, the “white-blues” scored twice. In the 36th minute, Denis Popov opened the scoring, heading in a cross from Vitaliy Buyalskyi from a corner.
In the 42nd minute, the capital club doubled its advantage. Vladislav Vanat received a pass from Nazar Voloshin and accurately shot into the far bottom corner.
In the second half, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy's team brought the matter to a rout. In the 55th minute, Vanat scored a double, taking advantage of an assist from Nikolai Mykhailenko.
After that, in the 57th minute, the match was interrupted due to an air raid alarm. After 40 minutes, the teams were able to return to the field, but the score did not change until the final whistle.

Thus, Dynamo inflicted the first defeat on Oleksandria in the current Ukrainian championship. The Kyivians interrupted the Oleksandria club's record unbeaten streak in the UPL, which consisted of 20 matches.
Thanks to this victory, Dynamo (40 points) took the sole lead in the UPL standings. Oleksandria (37 points) continues to be in second place. Shakhtar is third (33 points), with a match in hand.
In the next round of the UPL, which will be the last before the winter break, the “white-blues” will host Veres on December 16, and the Oleksandrians will play LNZ at their stadium on December 14.
Before that, Dynamo will play a match of the 6th round of the main round of the Europa League on December 12 in Spain, in which the Kievites' opponent will be Real Sociedad.
