The Ukrainian team won the first medal of the international biathlon season 2024/25. Iryna Shevchenko won the bronze medal at the opening stage of the IBU Junior Cup in Ridnaun, Italy.
The Ukrainian won the award in the individual race, having worked flawlessly on all four shooting ranges, thanks to which she was able to finish in third place.
Our compatriot was only overtaken by two Germans – Charlotte Scharlbronner and Alina Nussbicker, who took gold and silver, respectively.
Shevchenko's “bronze” is Ukraine's first medal in 5 years in individual women's races at the IBU Junior Cup stages.
We add that on Friday, December 13, the second stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup will begin in Hochfilzen, Austria. On this day, women's and men's sprint races will take place.
