Ruslan Rotan's team failed to beat LNZ.
“Alexandria" played a draw against LNZ on its home field in the match of the 17th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Nika stadium in Alexandria ended with a score of 1:1.
The match was suspended in the 31st minute due to an air raid alarm in the Kirovograd region. After lights out, the teams returned to the field and in the added time of the first half, Alexander Filippov put the hosts ahead.
In the 48th minute, the match had to be interrupted again due to the threat of a missile strike from the Russian occupiers.
When the game resumed, a very unpleasant incident occurred on the field. Defender of the Cherkasy club Alexander Kaplienko fell on the grass without any contact with his opponents and lost consciousness.
An ambulance immediately left for the field. After the doctors intervened, the victim came to, got to his feet on his own and left the field. He was taken to the hospital.
“Kapliyenko is fine now. He lost consciousness in the middle of the match. Now he went to the hospital for an examination. Thanks to the doctors who provided timely and qualified assistance,” the LNZ press service wrote on its Telegram channel.
In the 65th minute, the guests equalized the score – Muharrem Yashari scored a goal that allowed LNZ to snatch a draw.

Thus, “Alexandria” lost points in the third UPL match in a row. Earlier, Ruslan Rotan's team tied and lost to Dynamo (0:0, 0:3).
The Oleksandriya team (38 points) finished the 2024 calendar year in second place in the Ukrainian championship. Rotan's team is now 2 points behind the leader Dynamo with a match in hand.
LNZ is in 9th place in the UPL, with 19 points.
In the next round of the UPL, which will take place after the winter break, Oleksandria will host Zorya, and LNZ will meet Rukh away. The base date for the matches of the 18th round of the elite division of the Ukrainian championship is February 22, 2025.
