On December 17, the Best FIFA Football Awards 2024 ceremony was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, during which awards were presented to the best in various nominations in men's and women's football.
Thus, the best player of 2024 was recognized as the Brazilian forward of Real Madrid Vinicius Junior.
According to the voting results, the 24-year-old Brazilian scored 48 points, ahead of the winner of the 2024 Golden Ball, the Spanish midfielder of Manchester City Rodri (43 points) and his teammate, English midfielder Jude Bellingham (37 points).
The winners in the Best FIFA Football Awards nominations were determined by the head coaches and captains of the national teams, as well as journalists and fans who voted on the FIFA website. Performances from August 21, 2023 to August 10, 2024 were taken into account.
The head coach of the national team Serhiy Rebrov, the captain of the “blue-yellows” Mykola Matviyenko and journalist Valeriy Novobranets voted from Ukraine.
Interestingly, all Ukrainian representatives put Manchester City midfielder Rodri in first place, and not the winner of the Vinicius Junior award.
