Ukrainian football referee Andriy Shchepotyev died in the war against Russian occupiers.
The tragic news was reported by the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
The 30-year-old Kharkiv resident worked at youth football matches and amateur league meetings, was a listener of the National referee school (2020) and worked as a coach for the local Arsenal.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Shchepotyev joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He died while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Football Association and the entire football community, we express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Andriy. Glory to the Hero! Eternal memory…”, – the UAF post says.
Earlier it was reported that the father of the Shakhtar footballer died in the war with the Russian occupiers.
