Sergey's opponent refused to continue the fight after the sixth round.
Ukrainian light middleweight boxer Sergey Bogachuk won an early victory in the undercard of the rematchbetween the WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk and former champion Tyson Fury.
The 29-year-old native of Vinnytsia defeated Briton Ishmael Davis. The latter replaced former WBA world champion Israil Madrimov of Uzbekistan, who withdrew two weeks before the fight.
The fight between Bogachuk and Davis lasted six rounds. In the second round, the Ukrainian knocked his opponent down. After the sixth round, the Briton refused to continue the fight. The judges declared the Ukrainian boxer's victory by technical knockout.
Sergey now has 25 wins (24 by knockout) and two losses in the professional ring. Davis has 13 wins (6 by knockout) and two losses.
Thanks to this victory, Bogachuk became the mandatory challenger for the WBC light middleweight belt.
In his previous fight in August 2024, Bogachuk suffered a controversial defeat from American Virgil Ortiz and lost the WBC interim light middleweight title. The Ukrainian knocked his opponent down twice, but ultimately lost by split decision.
The Ukrainian won the WBC interim title at the end of March this year, defeating American Brian Mendoza. Bogachuk was supposed to box with American Sebastian Fundora for the full vacant WBC light middleweight belt. However, the Ukrainian was deprived of the championship fight — Fundora replaced the injured Keith Thurman in a fight against Timofey Tszyu, where the WBO and WBC light middleweight titles were at stake.
It should be noted that Bogachuk has already become the third Ukrainian boxer to win on the Usyk-Fury undercard. Earlier, Andriy Novitsky defended the WBC International heavyweight belt, defeating Mexican Edgar Ramirez. Also, Daniel Lapin won against Frenchman Dylan Colin in a fight for the IBF Intercontinental and WBA Continental light heavyweight belts.

Recall that Usyk and Fury will fight in the rematch for all the titles that the Ukrainian boxer currently holds. Unlike the first fight, this time the title of absolute world champion will not be at stake, since Alexander had previously given up the IBF belt. The new holder of this title is Briton Daniel Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out his compatriot Anthony Joshua.
