At the equator of the race, the Ukrainians were in second place.
On Friday, January 17, the fifth stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany, continued with the men's relay.
Ukraine was represented by Dmytro Pidruchnyi, Vitaliy Mandzyn, Anton Dudchenko and Taras Lesyuk. The “blue-yellows” finished in sixth place.
In the first stage, Pidruchnyi used one extra round in both prone and standing shooting and showed excellent speed, thanks to which he passed the baton in fourth place, only 7.7 seconds behind the leader.
In the second stage, Mandzyn also missed once at each of the shooting ranges and raised the Ukrainian team to second place, passing the baton 24.1 seconds behind the leader.
In the third stage, Dudchenko used one extra round in the prone shooting, leaving the shooting range in second position. Anton missed two shots in the standing position and dropped to third place, and passed the baton in fourth place, losing 54.1 seconds to the leader.
In the final stage, Lesyuk shot cleanly in the prone position and was fifth after the first shooting range. Despite ideal shooting in the standing position, Taras dropped to sixth position, where he finished the race, losing 1 minute 19 seconds to the winner.
The French team won the baton. Sweden finished second, and Germany rounded out the top three.
