For the “blue-yellows”, this is the first Universiade medal in hockey in 24 years.
Ukraine won another medal at the 2025 Winter Universiade, which is taking place in Turin, Italy. Our men's hockey teambecame the bronze medalist of the competition.
In the match for the “bronze”, the Ukrainian hockey players defeated the US team with a score of 5:3 (2:1, 2:1, 1:1).
The “blue-yellows” created a sensation, because in the group stage the Americans beat the Ukrainians with a score of 5:1.
The Ukrainian national hockey team won a medal at the Winter Universiade for the first time in 24 years. The last time the “blue-yellows” climbed the Universiade podium in hockey was back in 2001, when they also won “bronze” in Zakopane, Poland.
The best result of our hockey team at this level remains the “gold” of the 1999 student tournament in Poprad, Slovakia.
The teams of Slovakia and Canada will compete in the final of the 2025 Universiade hockey tournament. It was the Slovaks that the Ukrainians lost to in the semi-finals with a score of 1:3.
A day before the end of the Games in Turin, our student team had 12 medals (4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze).
