The German national track cycling team started a training run from a hotel in Palma and was hit by a car after just 2.7 kilometers.
This was reported by the press service of the German Cycling Federation.
Six athletes were seriously injured and taken to hospital. The 89-year-old driver did not notice the group and collided with them. The accident was witnessed by the coach Lukas Schädlich, who was accompanying the team.
Doctors found that some athletes had serious injuries, but fortunately they were not life-threatening. The injured were Benjamin Boos, Tobias Buck-Gramko, Bruno Kessler (all REMBE rad-net), Max-David Breeze, Moritz Augenstein (RSC Ellmendingen) and Louis Gencik (SSV Gera).
We would like to remind you that earlier we wrote about the death at the front of Pavlo Unguryan, the Ukrainian champion in pankration, multiple winner of competitions and fan of FC Bukovyna.
