The Ukrainian's team suffered a defeat.

Ukrainian midfielder Taras Stepanenko, who left Shakhtar Donetsk at the end of January and signed a contract with Turkish Eyupspor, made his debut for his new club.

This happened in match of the second round of the Turkish Cup against Konyaspor. The 35-year-old Ukrainian entered the field in the starting lineup and played 74 minutes without scoring.

With Stepanenko on the field, the hosts scored twice. After Taras was replaced, his team scored one goal, but could not avoid defeat, conceding a third goal in the final seconds – 3:1.

After this match, Eyüpspor is in third place in Group C of the Turkish Cup, having three points after two rounds. Of the six clubs, the two best teams will advance to the next round.

Recall that Stepanenko left Shakhtar after the match of the last round of the main stage of the 2024/25 Champions League season with Borussia Dortmund, when he last took to the field in the orange-blacks' jersey.

Taras played for the Miners since July 2010 after moving from Metalurh Zaporizhia. He spent 15 years in the Donetsk club, played 439 matches, scored 30 goals and won 25 trophies.

Stepanenko's contract with Eyupspor is for 1.5 years. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
