"Toffee" snatched a draw in the derby with the championship leader in a dramatic ending.
“Liverpool” drew with “Everton” in a rescheduled match of the 15th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The meeting at the Goodison Park stadium in Liverpool ended with a score of 2:2.
The Merseyside derby was supposed to take place on December 7 last year, but the match postponed due to Storm Darragh, which brought strong winds and heavy rain.
The Toffees opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Betou. However, just five minutes later the Reds equalised thanks to a precise strike from Alexis McAllister.
In the second half, Arne Sloth's men took the lead. In the 73rd minute, Mohamed Salah scored his 22nd goal in the current Premier League season – the Egyptian is leading the scoring race, three goals ahead of Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
However, in the final seconds of the match, David Moyes' team managed to save itself from defeat. In the 90+8th minute, James Tarkowski brought the “Toffees” a draw.
Ukrainian Everton defender Vitaliy Mykolenko came out in the starting lineup for the derby against Liverpool and played the entire match. It was the Ukrainian who delivered the cross that helped his team avoid defeat.
