Court sides with Ferrari in dispute with Cardile

The dispute between the Ferrari team and its former technical director Enrico Cardile over the timing of his move to Aston Martin has reached court.

Cardile signed a contract with Aston Martin last July to take on the role of chief technical officer. Since then, the teams have been debating when he would be able to take up the job.

Ferrari insisted that this could not happen until after a 12-month “sabbatical”, while Aston Martin hoped that Enrico Cardile would join them in early 2025. The case eventually went to court, which sided with the Scuderia.

According to the Modena court's decision, Enrico Cardile will not be able to start working for Aston Martin before July 18, 2025. The decision was taken to ensure that “other Formula 1 teams do not gain an undue competitive advantage by hiring Cardile earlier than permitted, causing irreparable damage to Ferrari.”

In turn, Aston Martin limited itself to a short statement: “This is a matter for Enrico and Ferrari, as well as their legal representatives in Italy. The parties are still involved in the process, so we will not make any further comment. The team will make a statement when the time is right.”
