Alexander wants to have a title fight.

Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk has revealed when he will return to the ring.

In an interview with The Ring, the Ukrainian boxer said that he will perform at a boxing evening from Golden Boy Promotions on April 19.

Gvozdyk doesn't yet know the name of his next opponent, but he said he wants to have a title fight.

“I want to fight the best boxers. Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev are probably unavailable now, as they are preparing for their third fight.

Now we have Callum Smith who is the interim champion. Smith vs Buatsi was a great matchup. Both fighters put on a good show for the fans.

I'm ready, I'm here. I can compete at the same level and I would love to fight Callum Smith. That would be a dream fight and I would love to do it. That would be perfect. I'm open to all challenges,” Gvozdyk said.

Gvozdyk, 37, has 20 wins (16 by knockout) and two losses. He lost his first fight in October 2019 to Russian Artur Beterbiev, losing his WBC title .

In June 2020, Gvozdyk announced his retirement, but after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he decided to return to the ring.

Having resumed his boxing career, Alexander won three victories in a row (over Mexican Josue Obando, Latvian Richards Bolotniks and Brazilian Isaac Rodriguez). After that, in June 2024, Gvozdyk lost to American David Benavidez in a fight for the WBC interim world light heavyweight title.
