Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur said that when he arrived at the Scuderia he saw a team that had lost confidence after a disappointing defeat in 2022, but now he hopes for revenge…
Frederic Vasseur: “Ferrari started the project for the 2022 car six months earlier than everyone else and took second place as a failure. It was a real tragedy. I didn't want the team to be driven by fear, restoring self-confidence was an absolute priority.
Everything settled down pretty quickly. I didn't have to start from scratch. I knew a lot of people at Ferrari, so it was easy to establish contact.
In fact, the 2022 season was great in terms of results, but it was seen as a missed opportunity within the team. Ferrari had an advantage then that they were unable to exploit, and that was the cause of great disappointment.
We have worked very hard on the SF-25 over the last six months and have made significant improvements. But we will have to wait until Melbourne to see the real balance. We want to fight for both titles because we know we have two strong drivers who can win and an incredibly positive attitude.”
