Oleg Doroshchuk became the European champion in high jump with a personal best.
Ukrainian Oleh Doroshchuk won the gold medal at the 2025 European Indoor Athletics Championships, which is taking place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.
In the final, the 23-year-old native of Kropyvnytskyi cleared a height of 2.34 meters on his first attempt, setting a personal record and the best result of the season in the world.
This is the first gold in the history of Ukraine in men's high jump at the European Indoor Championships.
In addition to Doroshchuk, another Ukrainian, Dmitry Nikitin, also competed in the final, taking 5th place with a result of 2.26 meters.

Last season, Doroshchuk won silver in the Diamond League final, clearing the bar at a height of 2.31 meters. With the same result, Oleg became sixth in the final of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
It should be noted that the women's high jump final at the 2025 Euro Indoors will be held on Sunday, March 9, starting at 18:05 Kyiv time. Ukraine will be represented by the current Olympic champion and world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh.
