Adrian Newey joined Aston Martin F1 as Managing Technical Partner this week, with his main task now being to accelerate the team's preparations for 2026, when Formula 1 moves to a new generation of cars.
Of course, Aston Martin is very happy to receive such reinforcements, but Amanda Newey, the wife of the famous racing designer, seems to have a mixed attitude to what is happening. However, the comments she left on the team's social media pages are more of a joke.
“I've leased it to them,” Amanda said of her husband's five-year contract, which is estimated to be worth around £30 million a year. She then added a couple more sentences: “I can't wait to see you again, my dear husband! I'll see you in about five years.”
Of course, she knows her husband's dedicated work ethic and cannot underestimate the complexity of the tasks he will face in the Silverstone team.
This is Newey's third marriage; the couple legalized their relationship in 2017. Amanda is the daughter of the famous actor Ron Smerzak, who once performed on the British stage and then successfully worked in South African cinema.
