The titled judoka will compete for the Metalist 1925 women's team.
The star Ukrainian judoka Darya Bilodid became a player of the football club “Metalist 1925” .
As reported on the club's social media pages, 24-year-old Bilodid signed a contract with the Kharkiv women's team.
Bilodid will play for Metalist 1925 under number 77. She will join the team's training process in the near future.
“The cooperation between Metalist 1925 and the legendary Ukrainian judoka, club ambassador Daria Bilodid, is reaching a new level. The world and European champion and Olympic medalist has officially become a player of the Metalist 1925 women's team.”
Darya has already signed a player contract and will soon join the team's training process. Her transfer is not just a bright event for Ukrainian sports, but also a step towards popularizing women's football. The club expects that Bilodid will be able to make her contribution to the team not only through her winning mentality, but also directly on the football field,” the statement from the Kharkiv club reads.
The women's team “Metalist 1925” finished the regular championship in 3rd place and secured a place in the champion group. The first game of the second part of the season will be held on Monday, March 17.
Bilodid is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 48 kg weight category. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Daria competed in the 57 kg weight category and was eliminated in the 1/8 finals due to disqualification.
