Due to injuries, Efim Konoplya and Aleksey Sych were forced to leave the field.
The head coach of the Ukrainian national team , Serhiy Rebrov, commented on the injuries of Yefim Konoplya and Oleksiy Sych , which they received in the first match against Belgium in the playoffs for the right to play in the elite division of the next Nations League.
In the first half, Konoplya was forced to leave the field, and Sych came on instead. And already in the second half of the match, Sych also got injured and was replaced.
Despite the personnel losses, the “blue-yellows” achieved a strong-willed victory over the Belgians with a score of 3:1.
“How serious are the injuries of Efim Konoplya and Aleksey Sych? We all hope for the best. I saw that Aleksey has a serious injury, he is very upset. We will do everything to restore the players. The second game is very important. I hope that we will count on all the players.
Can a flank defender be called up? We would be happy to, but unfortunately, there is no such possibility now. Firstly, we cannot make documents to leave Ukraine, and there are only two days left before the game. I believe that we will have enough players, even if we cannot use the players listed. But we hope that everything will be fine,” Rebrov said at a press conference after the match.
Earlier it was reported that Rebrov named the turning point of the Ukraine-Belgium match.
The return match between the teams on Sunday, March 23, will be hosted by the Belgian city of Genk. The game will start at 21:45 Kyiv time.
The winner of the two-match confrontation between Ukraine and Belgium will receive a place in the most prestigious Division A of the League of Nations. The losing team will play the next tournament in Division B.
