Sturla Laegreid won the Big Crystal Globe for the first time in his career.
Norwegian biathlete Sturla Laegreid has won the overall standings of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup ahead of schedule.
This happened following the results of the pursuit race at the final, ninth stage of the season in Holmenkollen, Norway.
Laegreid won the pursuit, increasing his lead over his closest pursuer, his compatriot Johannes Biot, to 104 points.
Sturla has become unattainable for his competitors in the overall World Cup standings. Even if Johannes Bjo wins the final race of the season on March 23 – the mass start – he will only be able to score 90 points and still not catch up with Laegreid.
For 28-year-old Legreid, this is the first Big Crystal Globe in his career.
Johannes Biot previously announced his retirement . The Holmenkollen mass start will be the farewell race for the 31-year-old five-time winner of the Big Crystal Globe.
