The Iranian national team has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup .
This happened following the results of the match of the 8th round of the group stage of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup, in which Iran played a draw with the Uzbekistan team (2:2).
With two rounds left in the qualification, the Iranian team leads Group A with 20 points and has guaranteed participation in the final stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Iran became the third team to successfully qualify for the 2026 World Cup, following Japan and New Zealand .
In general, the names of six participants in the world championship are already known, since the hosts of the World Cup – the USA , Canada and Mexico – automatically received tickets to the final part of the tournament.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19. This will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams. From 1998 to 2022, the World Cup used a 32-team format.
