The loss to Davis was Berinchyk's first in his professional career.

On the morning of February 15, Denis Berinchyk lost by knockout in the fourth round to American Keyshawn Davis. The defeat in New York was the first in the Ukrainian's professional career and cost him the WBO lightweight title. Berinchyk became the third Ukrainian boxer to lose the championship title in his first defense.

The first was Viktor Postol, who won the title in October 2015 and lost it in July 2016 in a unification fight with Terence Crawford.
The second is Sergey Bogachuk, who became the interim WBC champion in March 2024 after defeating Brian Mendoza, and in August of the same year lost to Vergil Ortiz.

Yuriy Nuzhnenko and Oleksandr Gvozdik had one title defense each before losing it. Andrey Kotelnik had two each, and Vitali Klitschko had two (before losing to Byrd and going on “vacation” in 2004, he later defended the title 9 times).
Vyacheslav Senchenko has three successful title defenses. Vladimir Klitschko had five before his defeat to Corrie Sanders in 2003 (he then had 19 successful title defenses). Sergey Dzinziruk and Artem Dalakian have successfully defended their titles six times each, and Vladimir Sidorenko has seven.
Oleksandr Usyk has ten successful defenses (six in the cruiserweight division, four in the super heavyweight division), Vasyl Lomachenko has three in the featherweight division, four in the super featherweight division, and three in the lightweight division.
For Berinchyk, the defeat to Davis was the first in 20 fights in the professional ring. Davis won his 13th fight in the pros, the ninth by stoppage.
