Bayern will hold the final meeting with striker Thomas Müller on a new contract before the end of the week.
It was previously reported that Thomas is ready to leave the Munich team this summer. The forward wants to continue playing for his home club, but does not agree to give up his salary. If there is no significant change in views after the meeting, the striker will leave. It is expected that Müller will leave Bayern after the 2025 Club World Cup.
The Munich club expects to significantly reduce its payroll after the departure of Thomas, who earns up to 17 million euros per year. At the same time, the club expects that Müller will take a place in the club's management structure in the long term. But they do not plan to offer the player a place on the board of directors in the near future.
One of the options for the forward to continue his career is to move to another country. Earlier it was reported that Thomas received an offer from one of the MLS clubs.
Müller is a product of Bayern Munich's youth system and has played for the first team since the 2008/09 season. Together with Rothen, he has won 32 different trophies, including 12 Silver Salad Bowls and two Champions League titles.
At the start of this season, Müller broke the record of the legendary Sepp Maier and became the record holder for Bayern in the number of matches for the club. This season, Thomas played 35 matches for the Munich team in all tournaments, scoring five goals and giving five assists.
Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga, six points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Vincent Kompany's side play their next match away to Augsburg on April 4.
