Schalke goalkeeper Loris Karius has suffered a calf injury and is out for the rest of the season.

The 31-year-old player was injured on March 30 during the match of the 27th round of the Bundesliga 2 against Greuther Fürth (3:3). After receiving the results of the examination, the club announced that Loris will no longer play in the current campaign.

Let us recall that the former Liverpool and Newcastle goalkeeper was signed by the Gelsenkirchen club in January, signing a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season. Before that, Karius spent six months without a club.

Loris made his debut for Schalke at the end of February and played a total of four matches (only half of the last one), conceding five goals.

Schalke are 11th in Germany's second-strongest division. With seven rounds to go, Kees van Wonderen's team are 12 points behind third place, which would qualify them for the play-offs.
