The new coach of Milan could be the former coach of Shakhtar, the current coach of Marseille Roberto De Zerbi.
It is known that the Rossoneri management is interested in the candidacy of the 45-year-old coach. The parties have already held initial talks on potential cooperation.
Let us recall that De Zerbi took charge of Shakhtar before the start of the 2021/22 season. Under the guidance of the Italian specialist, Shakhtar won the Ukrainian Super Cup and qualified for the Champions League group stage twice, and also finished the UPL draw, which was prematurely ended due to the Russian military invasion, in first place.
After his time at Shakhtar, Roberto worked as the head coach of Brighton: the Italian led the team to European competition for the first time and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup. In June 2024, De Zerbi signed a three-year contract with Marseille.
Milan is currently led by Sergio Conceição: at the end of 2024, he replaced his compatriot, former Shakhtar coach Paulo Fonseca.
The coach started off as successfully as possible – with comeback victories over Juventus (2:1) and Inter (3:2) and the Italian Super Cup, but then Milan was ingloriously eliminated by Feyenoord (0:1, 1:1) in the Champions League playoffs, and is in ninth place in Serie A.
Earlier, the media had already named potential replacements for Conceicao: club legend Mauro Tassotti and Europa League winner Maurizio Sarri, who headed Chelsea.
The club is also planning to change its sporting director. Former Juventus specialist Fabio Paratici is being actively considered for this position.
Today Milan will play the first match against Inter in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup. The game starts at 22:00 Kyiv time.
