Bayern and Thomas Müller are ending their partnership: the forward will leave the club at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The parties, as expected, were unable to agree on a new contract. The forward wanted to continue playing for his home club, but was not willing to give up his salary. Müller will leave Bayern after the 2025 Club World Cup.
A possible option for the forward to continue his career is to move to another country. It was previously reported that Thomas received an offer from one of the MLS clubs.
Müller is a product of Bayern Munich's youth system and has played for the first team since the 2008/09 season. Together with Rothen, he has won 32 different trophies, including 12 Silver Salad Bowls and two Champions League titles.
At the start of this season, Müller broke the record of the legendary Sepp Maier and became the record holder for Bayern in the number of matches for the club. This season, Thomas played 36 matches for the Munich team in all tournaments, scoring five goals and giving five assists.
Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga. Vincent Kompany's side will play their next match on April 8 against Inter in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
