The Ukrainian boxer saw no need to force the issue
In the program of the boxing evening in Potsdam, Germany, Ukrainian heavyweight Viktor Vykhryst confidently won a rating fight against 44-year-old American Rydell Booker.
Viktor Vykhryst, for whom this was his 14th victory in the professional ring, exclusively told Sport.ua which of the 8 rounds was the turning point:
“The first two rounds were spent on reconnaissance. It was felt that the experienced opponent had chosen a wait-and-see tactic, focused on defense and hoped that during one of the massive attacks I would open up, and that would be enough for a noticeable blow. Therefore, it was necessary to be maximally concentrated and force the American with shots, mainly from a medium distance, to think only about defense.
Since my speed advantage was obvious, which allowed me to get ahead of my opponent and perform combinations, everything was under control, and I saw no need to force events in the ring. I was quite satisfied with the victory by the judges' decision. And although it cannot be said that the fight with Booker was spectacular, the main thing is that I confidently won due to my class.
What's next? I hope to have another rating fight at the end of the summer, but this time with a higher-level opponent.”
On the evening of April 5, Ukrainian super heavyweight Viktor Vykhryst defeated Rydell Booker from the USA, who was 15 kg heavier, in Potsdam, Germany.
