Kevin Lerena confident in his abilities ahead of fight with Radchenko
On May 1, the Sunbet Arena in Pretoria (South Africa) will host a boxing evening organized by the promotional company Legacy Boxing Promotions.
The main event will be a title fight in bridgerweight – WBC title holder Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs, South Africa) and Ukrainian challenger Sergey Radchenko (11-7, 5 KOs) will enter the ring. The South African boxer shared his expectations for the upcoming fight:
“Of course I'm nervous. It's the first time a title fight will be held in South Africa. I've had a tough training camp, but now I can say I'm ready for the fight. I have this mentality – to give everything in the ring.
“I have a serious task ahead of me, because Sergey Radchenko is a very strong Ukrainian boxer. But in the ring, the fans will see a real spectacle. I never feel sorry for myself and give my all in training,” said Lerena.
The South African lost a unanimous decision to Australian Justice Huni in his last fight in March last year. Following that defeat, Lerena was promoted to the WBC title.
Radchenko has a series of four victories in a row. In August 2024, the Ukrainian boxer defeated Serbian Andrej Pesic (UD 12) in Kyiv.
