The second international Ironman triathlon will take place in Hradec Králové on August 16–17, attracting thousands of athletes and spectators. The race course will pass through the city’s historic center, leading to significant traffic restrictions. Some of them are already in place, reports Baltimore Chronicle.
From Tuesday evening, stopping is prohibited along Eliščino nábřeží from Divišova Street to the municipal baths building. Starting Thursday, parking will be unavailable in front of the museum on Eliščino nábřeží, as well as on Palackého and Kotěrova streets. On Friday, the restrictions will intensify, and on Sunday, several major streets will be closed, including the area in front of TJ Sokol, part of Czechoslovak Army Street, Pospíšilova třída, Divišova, Havlíčkova, Mostecká, Kladska, Rokytského and others. Prague and Tyrš bridges, Gočárova třída and part of třída Karla IV will also be closed.
Public transport will be affected: 14 bus lines (Nos. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 25, 27, 33) will run on modified schedules. Detailed information is available on the city’s public transport company website. From Wednesday, a hotline will be operating at +420 776 447 344 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Residents can also report issues through the Munipolis mobile app.
The city police will ensure public safety and compliance with restrictions, using a new mobile monitoring station.
The Ironman triathlon is being held in Hradec Králové for the second time. Last year’s event drew participants from many countries, and in 2025, organizers expect even greater interest and more athletes.
