In January 2025, Ukrainians purchased 4,305 passenger cars with diesel engines. It is noted that this is 27% less than last year.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to UkrAvtoProm.

According to statistics, 903 of these cars were new (-17%) and 3402 were used cars that were imported from abroad (-29%).

The TOP-5 models of new diesel passenger cars include:

  • Renault Duster – 144 units;
  • Toyota Land Cruiser Prado – 129 units;
  • Toyota Hilux – 66 units;
  • Peugeot Landtrek – 62 units;
  • Skoda Kodiaq – 41 units

The TOP 5 imported used diesel cars in January are as follows:

  • Renault Megane – 272 units;
  • Skoda Octavia – 243 units;
  • Nissan Qashqai – 229 units;
  • Volkswagen Passat – 204 units;
  • Volkswagen Golf – 115 units

Let us recall that in January, demand grew only for electric cars and hybrids in the EU new car market. Thus, in January 2025, the number of new car registrations in the EU decreased by 2.6% year-on-year to 831.2 thousand cars.

Only such segments of the car market as electric cars and hybrids demonstrated positive dynamics. Demand for gasoline and diesel cars is noticeably “sagging”. Moreover, hybrids have captured the largest share of the new passenger car market – almost 35%.
