US leader Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not ready for peace with the US. He also accused the Ukrainian president of disrespecting the US.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Trump’s statement.
Trump noted that he and Zelensky had a very meaningful meeting at the White House today.
“We've learned a lot of things that would never have been understood without talking under that kind of fire and pressure. It's incredible what comes out of emotion, and I've determined for myself that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved because he feels that our involvement gives him a big advantage in the negotiations,” the American president said.
At the same time, he stressed that he does not need an advantage, but he wants peace.
“He (Zelensky, – ed.) has shown disrespect for the United States of America in their cherished Oval Office. He can return when he is ready for peace,” Trump added.
Zelensky's visit to the USA
Let us recall that today, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a visit to the United States.
The head of state has already met with American senators and with US President Donald Trump.
During a conversation with journalists, a quarrel arose between Zelensky and Trump, which concerned the war in Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian state recalled that the war in Ukraine has not ended, neither under Barack Obama, nor under Donald Trump, nor under Joe Biden. This caused a sharp reaction from US Vice President J.D. Vance, and then from Trump.
