Volvo has unveiled its flagship electric sedan, the ES90. The Swedish electric car looks like a regular five-door liftback, but its ground clearance is 203 millimeters. Volvo said the ES90 opens up a whole new class of cars.

The new ES90 has the best drag coefficient of any electric vehicle in the brand, equal to 0.25. It also has two luggage compartments – an impressive 733 liters in the back and another 22 liters in the front. The new 800-volt architecture allows the battery of the electric vehicle to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes, and the range to be increased by 300 kilometers in 10 minutes.
The list of equipment includes four-zone climate control, a multimedia system with a 14.5-inch tablet, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 25 speakers, as well as a set of driving assistants using data from five radars, seven cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
The ES90 debuted in three modifications. The most affordable of them is equipped with one 333-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 92 kWh, such an electric car travels 645 kilometers on one charge.
The “medium” version already has two electric motors, in total they develop 449 horsepower and 670 Nm. The battery has a capacity of 106 kWh, which is enough for 700 kilometers in a combined cycle and up to 910 in the city. Finally, the dual-motor version of the ES90 Twin Motor Performance produces 680 horsepower. But its battery and passport power reserve are the same as those of the average ES90 Twin Motor.
Volvo claims that the ES90 is the record-breaker among other “green” models of the brand in computing power. The process management is handled by a module of two Nvidia Drive AGX Orin chips, each of which is capable of performing 508 trillion operations per second.
Orders for the Volvo ES90 are now open in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. The new model will be released in other markets later this year.
