Active military operations continue in the Sudzha area and surrounding areas of the Kursk region. The enemy is using assault units of airborne troops and special operations forces to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a message from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Sirsky, on Facebook.

According to him, Russian troops are trying to push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region and transfer military operations to the territory of the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

Syrsky stated that the enemy had already suffered significant losses.

“Since the beginning of the Kursk operation (from August 6, 2024), the total losses of Russian troops have exceeded 54.9 thousand people. Irrecoverable – more than 22.2 thousand, sanitary – 31.8 thousand, prisoners – 942,” he noted.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed or disabled more than 2,100 units of Russian equipment, including 90 tanks, 654 combat armored vehicles, two air defense systems, aircraft, helicopters, and almost 1,500 drones.

Russian aviation continues to strike its own territory. “As a result of air strikes on the city of Sudzha, this settlement was almost completely destroyed,” Syrsky reported.

He noted that the priority remains saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, therefore, if necessary, units carry out maneuvers to more advantageous positions.

As of 18:00 on March 11, Ukrainian troops have repelled eight assaults by Russian-North Korean units.

“We will hold the defense in Kursk region for as long as it is expedient and necessary,” the commander assured.

Operation in Kursk region

Let us recall that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been conducting an operation in the Kursk region since early August 2024. It was aimed at weakening the enemy's combat capabilities and forcing it to redirect resources to defend its own territories. It is known that as of the end of summer, the soldiers controlled 100 settlements in the region.

However, information has recently begun to appear that the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region has begun to deteriorate. It was stated that Russian troops have advanced northwest of Sudzha. According to media reports, after the US stopped exchanging intelligence, Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region allegedly found themselves under threat of encirclement. This, according to them, complicated the prediction of attacks and the coordination of defense.

Today, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian troops are carrying out assigned tasks in the Kursk region. And the military command is coordinating them, emphasizing the preservation of the lives of personnel.

It is also interesting that today Russian media began publishing a video of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who allegedly arrived for a meeting in the Kursk region.
