Toyota is preparing a new pickup truck. During an event in Belgium where the new bZ4X, C-HR+ and Lexus RZ debuted, Toyota showed a teaser with the silhouette of the new commercial vehicle.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Carscoops.
The pickup silhouette is flanked by two models, one of which could be an electric crossover, the premiere of which has been postponed to 2026. The pickup, however, is probably not related to the upcoming electric Hilux.
The pickup in the teaser has a double cabin, which distinguishes it from the prototype of the “battery” Hilux shown last year. This Hilux will be built in Thailand. The silhouette is also different from the electric Hilux, which is being tested in Australia with mining giant BHP.
At the same time, the profile is noticeably similar to the EPU Concept 2023. We are talking about an experimental mid-size electric pickup truck, close in size to the Ford Maverick.
At one time, the show car was distinguished by a removable tailgate and an unusual interior. The concept also received a steering wheel, but it is unknown which solutions will migrate to the production version. It should enter the market in 2027.
In the same 2023, insiders reported that Toyota could turn the Corolla into a pickup truck. It was predicted to be placed one step below the Hilux and compete with the Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. The debut date was named the same – around 2027.
