Information about the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian units in the Kursk region is not true. Such reports are spread by Russian propaganda.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Reports about the alleged “encirclement” of Ukrainian units in the Kursk region by the enemy do not correspond to reality and are created by Russians for political purposes and to put pressure on Ukraine and partners,” the General Staff said.
According to them, the situation has not changed significantly in the last 24 hours, and military operations in the operational zone of the Kursk troop group continue.
The General Staff clarified that the Defense Forces have regrouped and retreated to more advantageous defense lines. They are carrying out assigned tasks in the Kursk Region.
“Our soldiers are repelling the enemy's offensive actions and inflicting effective fire damage on them from all types of weapons. Since the beginning of the current day, 13 combat clashes have occurred in the Kursk direction. There is no threat of encirclement of our units,” the General Staff reported.
Fighting in Kursk region
Let us recall that last summer the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched an operation in the Kursk region. Now the Russians are trying to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of their positions.
However, in early March, the situation in the Kursk region became more complicated. According to RBC-Ukraine sources, Russian troops are trying to cut off the Sudzha-Sumy road in order to create an operational encirclement of Ukrainian troops.
The Russians were probably able to advance to the city of Sudzha, and the Russian Defense Ministry has already announced that the city has been taken under control. What is known about the battles for Sudzha – follow the link.
More details about the battles in the Kursk region and whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to hold the buffer zone are in the RBC-Ukraine article.
