Porsche will release a new petrol crossover. Having studied the market, the company decided not to rush into electrification: the development of internal combustion engines will last until at least 2030, and traditional cars will be produced in parallel with electric vehicles.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Car and Driver.
Porsche hinted at a new crossover that will not have an electric version at all – it will be released with an internal combustion engine and a hybrid power plant. Following the annual meeting, Porsche said it was considering the possibility of releasing a new crossover “with internal combustion engines and hybrid power plants.”
It is still unknown what exactly the new product will be. It may be a three-row D-class crossover, currently known under the internal index K1. Several years ago, it was reported that the flagship would be fully electric, but Porsche may have changed its mind due to the slow development of the premium electric vehicle segment.
Meanwhile, Porsche is preparing for massive layoffs. Due to falling sales of electric cars and the difficult economic situation, the company will lay off 1,900 people over the next five years.
